Award Show Highlights
The World Nature Photography Awards 2019 offered a platform for photographers from around the world to showcase their stunning talent and stunning artwork. The awards show presented a total of 12 categories for competition, including Landscape, Wildlife, Macro, and Amateur. With over 10,000 entries from over 70 countries, the competition was fierce. The awards show took place in London, and it was a memorable night for the photographers who put their work on display.
The event was hosted by BBC’s natural history presenter and renowned photographer, Steve Backshall. The awards were judged by renowned photographers and photojournalists, including Peter Dench, Steve Bloom, and Ami Vitale. Winning Photographs
The award for Landscape went to Australian photographer Paulina Metzscher for her photograph entitled “The Jungle”. This stunning image captures a solitary tree standing tall in the middle of a lush jungle. The striking contrast between the bright green of the trees and the black shadows of the background creates an ethereal atmosphere that is mesmerizing to look at.
The award for Wildlife went to British photographer, Ross Hoddinott, for his photograph entitled “In the Moment”. This remarkable image captures a cheetah in its natural habitat, perched on a rock and looking right into the camera. The cheetah’s bright yellow eyes and majestic stance make it an unforgettable sight. The image shows the beauty and power of nature in its rawest form.
The award for Macro went to French photographer, Damien Poullot, for his photograph entitled “The Great Dance”. This remarkable image captures a dragonfly in mid-flight, encircled by a swirl of vibrant colors. The intricate details of the dragonfly’s wings and the vivid colors of the background make this a captivating image.
The award for Amateur went to British photographer, Nicholas Gurney, for his photograph entitled “The Chase”. This amazing image captures two cheetahs chasing each other across a dusty savannah. The intense energy of the two cheetahs is palpable, and the bright orange and red hues of the background create a dramatic atmosphere.
